Does the i5 2400 bottleneck the EVGA GTX 970 FTW+? Also is the i5 2400 good now days?

Should be fine, its still a good CPU.

You'd get more performance buying a 980 then replacing your i5. It is not much of a bottleneck and is probably very minimal, the 1155 chipset difference for 2nd and 3rd gen i5's isnt worth the upgrade.
