Does the Msi h110m support the intel core i3 7100?

You would need to confirm which BIOS the mobo ships with in order to be sure it will support an i3 7100. If the BIOS is old you'd need to upgrade it, which would require a skylake CPU to perform.

Yeah, that'd be easier, as a B250 mobo is guaranteed to work with an i3-7100.

No it does not, I have just tried to put these two together and after using an i7 6700k to install all the drivers and swapping the cpus it comes as a doesn't post stalemate, for some reason the drivers don't work for the cpu despite being advertised to do so

What drivers? You need to update the motherboard BIOS; kaby lake compatibility has nothing to do with what Windows drivers you have installed.
