Along with the HD (which makes an annoying constant whine), the R9000's fan is the biggest noise source in my PC.

Does the R9000 actually need a HSF/combo, or is it only there for cosmetic purposes?

There are Pasive Heatsinks solutions (often shipped with the cards you buy INSTEAD of an HSF) for the 9000non-pro, the 9100NP, and the 9200NP (is there a pro 9200?)

Adding one afterwards will be just as hard as any other HSF switch, but is likely possible as long as you're not OC'ing it. I think a Zalman is overkill, but maybe an old Celeron one might work fine for relatively cheap.

- You need a licence to buy a gun, but they'll sell anyone a stamp <i>(or internet account)</i> ! <A HREF="http://www.redgreen.com" target="_new"><font color=green>RED</font color=green> <font color=red>GREEN</font color=red></A> GA to SK
