Hey guys,

I am wondering if anyone here has experience or know if an 8GB stick of RAM is supported on x58 motherboards in general. Now if they do, how about the X58 ASUS Sabertooth motherboard? http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/SABERTOOTH_X58/specifications/

It says that the max is 24GB and there are 6 DIMM slots so I guess 4GB for each but I am wondering if 8GB will be fine as long as I put only max of 3 of those?

I have a friend who is trying to get this resolved but the board won't recognize the ram even after reading the MemOK button.

THe 8GB stick of ram are the crucial ballastix sport XT (blue) RAM. It is 1866 MHz at CL10 speed.

Thanks.

The memory limitation is actually fro that CPU generation and not so much the board.

The best CPU, the 990X, only supported 24GB of RAM.

The motherboard has some limitations based on the VRM design and quality of components in the board so that can limit clock speed and voltage but it wont limit the size of the DIMMs supported, that is normally decided by the CPU as the memory controller is on the CPU itself.
