does this need a after market heatsink

Im using a intel core i5-4690 clocked at 3.5ghz is a cooler master hyper 212 evo necessary cause im trying to get my pc cheap as possible

The processor can rune fine with the stock cooler but it might be too loud for you. For good cooling and prolonged CPU life go for the CM Hyper 212 EVO.

If you're looking for a less expensive option that will drop temps a solid ~10-20C or so from the factory HSF and reduce fan noise considerably, a Zalman CNPS5X or Arctic i11 or CM TX3 are all worth a look. 90mm 3xheatpipe coolers are very effective for stock clocked applications <100W for reducing noise and temps.

Hey,

although I agree with you I do so partially as the guy is not buying an unlocked CPU so I doubt he he is going to attempt any overclocking which in its turn voids almost any chances of the OP even downloading some stress test programs.

@ devonVP - you don't have to buy an aftermarket cooler. Build your PC, use it for a while and if you find that the stock cooler's fan is too loud for you, then you could invest in a new cooler. But it might happen that you won't need it at all. (just trying to save you money)
