I ask this, because I just finished my first build, and I managed to get a copy of windows 7 ultimate for free through my school, and used that on my build, and my laptop seems to boot faster than my desktop, but my laptop is on windows 8.
Laptop:
CPU: Core i7-4710HQ @ 2.5GHz Turbo to 3.5GHz
RAM: 8GB DDR3
GPU: 2GB Dedicated Nvidia Geforce GTX 860m
SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 250GB (Also has standard 5400RPM HDD in it for file storage)
OS: Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit
BOOT SPEED: 3-6 Seconds
Desktop(New Build):
Mobo: Asus Maximus Hero VII
CPU: Core i7-4790k @ 4.0GHz Turbo to 4.4GHz
CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i Liquid Cooler
RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro 8GB DDR3 2133Mhz
GPU: Intel HD 4600 (Do NOT have a GPU at this time)
SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 250GB (Do NOT have an HDD at this time)
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
BOOT SPEED: 12-16 Seconds
Could it simply be booting that much slower because its on Windows 7? When Windows 8 came out and I had updated my PC at the time, I believe I noticed a difference in boot speed, and a lot of people were talking about faster boot speeds on windows 8 at the time of it coming out.
I just want to make sure there is nothing wrong with my hardware. Or software if that would be the case.
