Hi,

I am currently using a 4K monitor with DPI scaling of 200% (recommended) at 3840x2160.

I was wondering if that changes any quality of image or resolution, such as resolution or pixel being cut in half?

Isn't DPI scaling putting out more pixels per inch, which equates to reducing/sacrificing something in return of changing the size (bigger)?

Thank you.

Naw it just makes the Windows UI render twice as large.

Your mouse pointer is twice as large as it would be if you didn't have scaling on. It uses more pixels, but does not increase the size of the pixel - that is a physical property of your monitor.

DPI is a misnomer in this situation. As the dots per inch are physically determined by the monitor.

Thank you for your reply.

Yes the main concern is the pixel aspect. As the monitor has 187ppi, if the scaling uses more pixels, how does that work?

Is 187ppi not the max it can display or does it double twice like to 374ppi at 200%, is that possible?
Or maybe more power and voltage from the computer like the gpu?
