Sorry, can't offer any advice but will be watching this thread with interest as in a very similar situation (I've got an i5-3570k oc'd to 4.2 and 16gb DDR3). Got about the same budget so have been thinking about R5 3600/X, B450 Tomahawk Max board and 16gb 3600 ram along with a new PSU as mine's quite old.

Will be good to hear case suggestions and also what people think of the included Wraith coolers - I hears they allow the chip to get very hot under load and are quite noisy.

Your going in the right direction with the 3600x, with a x470 mobo and 16 gb of DDR4 ram... for example

All this is here in Germany but you get the idea.... your GPU is a great little machine and will go for a while yet with what you could get (I had a 1060 6gb and loved it).

A new PSU would also not do any harm as with new components you want a stable and quality power supply.

The Wraith cooler is good for everyday use but if you are going to OC you may want someting better, it is also not the most quiet cooler, I had it on my 2700x. Much depends on your case airflow and cases are always a matter of personal taste !!

Hopefully i can get a 3600 on a black friday discount and spend the left over money on rgb

Could i still use this build without a new psu for a couple of months until i get a new one.

Not adviseable, a 550-600w would be a better platform. DDR4 ram is going to need more juice than the old DDR3. You could go for a 2700x as for gaming and everyday useage the is not much between them, 10-15% at most and if you get 100fps or 110-115 fps your eyes 'aint gonna notice....
With the 1060 it would be perfect...
What do you have for a monitor 60hrz, 144 ?

I have a asus 144hz gaming monitor.

I would go for a 2700x , if you had a RTX 2080ti then go for the 3600 but I would recommend the 2700x and that saving would give you the guts of a new PSU. The 1060 gb paired with that cpu will give you 60fps+ on high settings on almost all games.

I had that exact setup before I got my 2080 so I know what it delivers..... hours of stress free gaming.

I am considering a 3600 for an extra £10. And also factoring in a new psu and decent case it would go over £400.
