I'd vote for a few new items instead of playing with the slot system. eg,
Trauma Kits, 2-4 uses each, as a large healing kit. Adrenaline Stim - boosts
your movement speed (another evasive device, with different behavior than
the phase device). Probably some others.

A ini file is already in the code. Some options are already included. 🙂
