Double BIOS switch on GTX 1080?

I just bought an EVGA GTX 1080 FTW Hybrid and it has a switch on it to switch from the primary to secondary BIOS.

I've looked everywhere online and can't really seem to find info about it for my specific GPU.

I used to have two MSI GTX 760's in SLI and overclocking them was as simple as going in to MSI Afterburner and unlocking voltage control.

Since I have an EVGA card I downloaded Precision X because I figured it would work better to use EVGA's software, plus I can't control my card's LED's without Precision X (apparently you can control the LED's through Nvidia Geforce Experience but I've looked everywhere and can't find it.)

What's more is when I go in to the menu on Precision X it won't let me check the box to unlock voltage control.

Any answers or info is highly appreciated!

EVGA's precision software has all types of bugs.

I recommend MSI afterburner. You can use precision to change the LED color still, but you only need to do this once since the setting saves to the cards firmware. Precision doesn't need to ever run for your card to maintain the color you set. in msi afterburner there is an option to unlock voltage control in settings.

What info are you looking for in terms of the dual bios? its there for modding your bios or if an update goes wrong, so you have a backup bios. Its a preventative measure so you dont brick your card.

brick = literally, its a useless brick.

I understand you have to unlock voltage control in settings, but it won't let me unlock it in Precision X, the option is there, but I can't change it.

In Afterburner it does let me up the voltage, but it doesn't let me increase the voltage in mV like with my GTX 760's, instead there is a "Core Voltage (%)" option, it's set at 0% at default and goes up to 100%, I'm just confused because it works on a percentage instead of +mV like before. Please note that I'm not confusing the Power Target with the Core Voltage

As far as flashing a BIOS to a GPU, I didn't know you could do that, I mean I've flashed BIOS updates on my motherboard before but that's about it.

It sounds like the voltage is locked, as you can only undervolt if you have that setting. 100% is not over-volted at all. You could use a custom BIOS if you don't mind voiding warranty (probably explains the dual BIOS!) but it won't be worth it I doubt. What voltage do you get on it now?

Ya, the core clock already cycles at 1721mhz and boosts to 1820mhz but it still has the same effective memory clock as the reference design. I don't know how much more "flagship" you can get than the 1080 FTW Hybrid, just would've thought EVGA would've made it much more simple to overclock their flagship card than to have to flash a BIOS...

I used NZXT Krakken G10 sleeves to watercool my MSI GTX 760's before I bought my 1080.... I was able to overclock those 760's pretty damn high, +164mhz on the core and +569 on the memory. In game that added around 7-10 FPS depending on the game.

No, what voltage are you getting? That is the clockspeed. I would've thought you'll be running on stock at 1.2v+ anyway and I guess the flagship range is kind of pushed to its limits already. 1820Mhz stock is faster than pretty much any card on the market.

After looking at the voltage control I don't think it means 100% as in undervolting it though, in afterburner when I move the slider all the way up it says +100 instead of just 100. I think it's significant just because the power and temperature target under it don't have a + sign before the number

So I guess if I put it at +10 it would be 110% of normal voltage maybe? I find it kind of hard for them to make it as simple to brick your card as putting it at +100 and doubling the voltage though

Maybe, but it doesn't say +100mV, on my 760's it maxed out at +12mV, plus on the 1080 it says +100 (without the mV designation) of the Core Voltage (%)
