Double-checking this will work

Hi, I'm looking to upgrade my PC and replace the RAM, GPU and CPU, but I'm not sure if I will have enough power (I've got a 550W PSU) or even if the motherboard will be compatible (ASRock H97M).
My current CPU is an Intel i5-4440, but I'd like to replace it to a mid- to top-range i7. I found the i7-6700K (http://bit.ly/28Wel9I) which looks pretty good, and I was thinking of replacing my 2 sticks of 4GB DDR3 RAM with 2 sticks of 8GB.
I'd also like to upgrade my GPU from a GTX 960 to a GTX 1070, but I'll be doing that later.
I just wanted to check that everything should work together since I don't want to spend hundreds of pounds on these things just to realise they don't work together!
Thanks.

Oh, okay. Do you know if it will be still enough when I upgrade to GTX 1070?

it really depends on the pin configuration your 1070 requires , if it's a 6+8 pin then they (the gpu's ) come with a converter that converts two 6 pins into an 8 pin , for your other 6 pin you can convert a molex , but i could be wrong , if you buy a psu with four total pci e connectors then you'de be super sure , my psu is 700 watts and it comes with four :)

i think i can say with certainty that above 500 or 550 watts the psu is all about how many pcie connectors it has , like how many gpu's you wish to crossfire / SLI , cause the other components , don't consume that much power , no matter how many hdd's ssd's you've got , a 1600 w psu is all about putting together 4 gpu's nothing more

Your motherboard is not compatible with a 6700K. You'll need to look at a 4th gen. i7 for it to work (Try the i7 4790). Why do you want an i7 though? It's completely overkill for gaming. An i5 4590 will be more than enough. What 550W PSU do you have? Depending on how well it is made, a 1070 may be able to run on it. Post the model number of the PSU. If you already have 8GB of RAM, don't bother upgrading to 16GB. 8GB is more than enough for almost all games.

Sure, I'm pretty sure the PSU is a XFX TS 550, and the reason I wanted to upgrade the CPU / RAM is that I've noticed that my PC can handle most recent games on high (not highest) settings relatively well, but when it comes to more CPU-intensive games like Just Cause 3 (I know it's really badly optimised anyway but still), it really tanks. I'm talking from 60 FPS normally to the occasional 2.

(Also I've been wanting to get into VR eventually, so for that to happen without vomit ensuing, games need to run at like 90 FPS.)
