Double sided printing smudging page

Hello,
I am printing double sided on a Dell injet printer.
When the 1st side is printed, the page is brought back into the printer and 2nd side done.
When i check the 1st side afterwards there are smudged ink patches on the page, like the ink wasn't dry on the first side when it was taken back into printer.
is there a way to set the delay on printing the 2nd page??

unless there is some setting in the printer options i don't know of a way to delay the printing, however there are solutions.

if you print on best quality, especially with bold text or large images then it can take up to a few minutes for the ink to dry. often printing the same thing on draft or normal quality will not smudge but it will be lighter.

instead of using the built in double sided printing, do it manually. the following steps work (i've done it). since its a hassle i only do it when printing on best quality with text/images i know will smudge alot.

-print
-change pages to all the odds (1,3,5,7,9...)
-put them in seperate locations to dry.
-when dry arrange them in the tray with the printed face down, page 1 on top. typically with the top of the page facing into the printer, but look to see how your printer feeds.
-change pages to all evens (2,4,6,8,10...)
-put them in seperate locations to dry
-assemble pages
