Question Doubts about damage to my external HDD ?

My 2.5" HDDs are a bit old, I don't know if they have the function of having automatic parking technology only when inactive? no read/no write/park

My models are: WD10JPVX-08JC3T5 and HGST HTS541010A99E662

Auto park technology has evolved in recent years

In the reports of people I see some 2.5" HDD + enclosure case USB 3.0 after being ejected in Windows 10 they remain connected and operating

If you're keeping multiple copies of your data, as you should, the exact parking technology is irrelevant.
If, for some reason, you really really need to know....ask the manufacturer of the drive and.or enclosure.

It is a spinning hard drive.
It WILL die at some point.
But it is HIGHLY unlikely that ALL of your drives will die on the same day. This is why you have multiple copies.


Just don't take a drive with the single copy of your data, and throw it down the stairs.

I asked Western Digital and they said they don't have any information about these models.

Is it possible to identify whether the 2.5" HDD + USB 3.0 enclosure case was ejected correctly and entered parked mode using the USB activity log?

I have read reports of some people who ejected the external HD in Windows 10 but the drive continued to operate, spinning with the arm and needle under the magnetic disks?
