[SOLVED] Download Speed Slower than Upload Speed (both wired and wireless)

On my Windows 10 PC (Dell Inspiron 3650) my speedtest results for download are about 40 Mbps, upload is about 90 Mbps. I pay for a 75/75 service. This is BOTH with wired, or wireless. I have other PCs on the network (wired) that get 90 down / 90 up.

This is not an ISP issue, and I have swapped all cables etc. to confirm that it is nothing to do with how the Inspiron is connected.

Is there some hardware/software setting that I should investigate?

check the bandwidth or QoS settings in your router for the IP address associated with that PC.
try connecting it using a static IP and changing those settings as well to give it more bandwidth.

but also, try just connecting it with a static IP and using a good DNS service like 1.1.1.1/1.0.0.1
(assuming you are in the US)

Or Google's 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4

To manually setup a static IP and DNS, go to Control Panel in Windows, then go to Network, then go to adapter settings then go to properties of network adapter (ethernet for ethernet, and wireless for wireless) and then double click on the IPV4 option in the list and do the manual stuff there.

Thanks! I did check router QOS settings, there's nothing set there.

I think the issue was the speedtest I was using in my browser wasn't working correctly. I have installed the Speedtest windows app, and am getting 90/90 now. So it may have been a false alarm. Not sure why the browser-based speedtests are behaving differently though - puzzling.

Not sure myself either.
I use only two different sites for speedtesting.
The first is to check max capability of my ISP speeds with the closest server using https://speedtest.net

And the other is to test more realistic speeds when connecting to different servers located elsewhere using https://testmy.net
