Download speed still the same after Ethernet wired connection setup?

I just hooked up wired ethernet connection and the download speed is still the same..whats going on? my download speed for verizon is 50..Haha im good everything on computers BUT networking and internet stuff haha.

When im not downloading its at average 48mbps, while downloading about 10 mbps

Just speedtest.net, no downloads running.

And 'downloading'...what tool is showing you 10Mbps?

On the website while downloading..But in reality on steam..It only went up to maximum of 6mbps

"on the webiste" That's not really telling me anything.

But for Steam, showing you 6Mbps...that is absolutely normal

Your ISP and speedtest.net reports in megabits per sec
Steam reports in megabytes per sec.

Approx 8:1 ratio.
6MBps(megabytes) * 8 = ~48Mbps(megabits). Right about what you should see.

Different games? Different ISP plan?
6 megabytes from Steam = ~48 megabits from your ISP. That's the way it works.
