I purchased the Dragon Xenoverse 2 game for my son but am getting a Shader 5.0 or higher graphic card required error on my Dell Inspiron N5110 (Specs: Windows 7 home basic 64 bit, Direct X 11, Nvidia GeForce GT 525M DxDiag Version: 6.01.7601.17514 32bit Unicode). I keep reading that graphics card for laptops cannot be upgraded. Just writing to check if there is a way to overcome this error? Or upgrading the graphics card to be able to run the game? Final option, if I had to buy a gaming PC - need a recommendation. Thanks!

Solution

yup everything is soldered down on laptops

it's not an error, your laptop fails the requirements

I suggest you make a new post with your max budget and where you live and ask for help with a gaming build

Unless your laptop uses an MXM module (not very common) you have no solution to switch out that chip.

And actually the GT 525M should be able to run DirectX11 which requires Shader Miodel 5.0 capable hardware.

The laptop should also feature the integrated Intel HD 3000 graphics unit (used when no graphically demanding media is running to conserve power and extend battery life) which might not be able to utilize SM 5.0
In that case there should be an option to switch the used graphics chip. This is the place to look for.

Thank you maxalge...i have been reading up a bit and guess it is better to invest in a desktop for my son that he can keep upgrading later.

lordmogul....my laptop does have the shader 5.0 and directX11 but not the Intel HD 3000 unit....guess the best course is to get a decent gaming desktop. Thanks for the reply
