hey guys, this is my first ocing experience. learned "how to" & started ocing in 1 day, thanks to this awesome forum. im in the midst of stabilizing my CPU. first of all, system specs...

-Q6600
-P5K Deluxe Wifi
-DDR2-800/5-5-5-18/240pin/2.0v

seems like its running pretty stable, but i have time to kill since im running the torture test and its been doing fine for quite some time now. Heres the settings i have it at now.

Q6600 running at 3.0GHz
FSB Frequency (333)
DRAM Frequency (DDR2-800MHz)
CPU V (1.2875)
FSB Termination V (1.20)
North Bridge V (1.25)
South Bridge V (1.05)
Core Temp Range During Torture Test: 56-60C

before i waste 24 hours, i wanna clarify a few things:
1) DRAM Frequency, i have it at 800mhz (asuming thats actually 400, but says 800?) anyway, should i keep it there or lower it to 667mhz? what are the major advantages and disadvantages? i guess im mainly speaking about performance, stability and temperature.
2) Core Temp! are those temps okay? =] keeping in mind it is the torture test. if not, pls let me know what temp i should be aiming for, and what my options are. last resort would be to lower the clock speed but i dont wanna lower it from 3.0 >__< haha
3) Of course finally, i just wanna know any random open opinions! this is my first overclocking experience, and on top of that i just learned how today, so pls! i wanna learn! =D

Thanks so much guys, ill be waiting!

1. leave the RAM at 800 or lower it to 667 and tighten the timings, it doesn't matter at all.
2. If you are running Prime 95 (small FFTs) then your temps are good.
3. The next step up would be:

FSB @ 400
CPU multi @ 8
RAM at 1:1 800 (You may need to set that manually, the Gigabyte mobos climb up as the FSB increases, I don't know about ASUS) That will give you 3.2G (400 x 8).

I assume you locked the PCIe to 100.

hey zorg, REALLY appreciate your reply, yes i did set my pcie to 100 :) thanks for the reminder though.

as for seting fsb @ 400,
cpu multi @ 8,
ram at 1:1 800,
will it heat up more?
and will i need more voltage?
if so, are there any specific ones i might need just as a starter?
my cpu temps already at a level i wanna keep it at.
as long as it doesnt go past 65C im happy.

let me know! thanks :)

okay, cool, thanks a lot. im about to install a few more fans in my computer so ill it out after that! really appreciate it!
