Building a new rig - six years since last time, and a bit rusty!

The power turns on fine, but there is no display signal on any of the outputs on either the motherboard or the GPU and the DRAM light on the motherboard is on.

I first tried the A2 and B2 slots for the RAM, but to no avail. I then tried A1 and B1 (I know this is wrong, but tried it anyway). Lastly I tried only the A2 slot - still nothing. DRAM light stays on troughout all of this.

The 24pin connector on the side of the card is in place aswell as the 8pin CPU power connector on the top of the card.

Since the 3700X has no onboard graphics I guess I have to get video output from the GPU, right?

The GPU is properly seated and lights up. Also powered by its 8pin PCIe connector from the PSU.

Specs:

  • ASUS x570 f-gaming
  • AMD Ryzen 7 3700X
  • G.Skill Trident Z Neo DDR4 3600MHz 2x16GB
- Corsair RM 750X V2
  • Cooler Master MasterLiquid ML360R RGB
  • Phanteks Enthoo 719

The parts above are all brand new. I am also transplanting a GTX 1070 from my old rig. It worked fine in that setup, so I guess thats most likely not the problem.

Correct, the processor you have doesn't have an iGPU. Did you try using a lower PCIe slot? Try using the stock cooler or do a few turns anti clockwise on the AIO's mount in case it was too tight.
But I have a feeling that there is an error with the memory and not the GPU/PCIe since there is a memory light flashing.

The cooler being too tight I have never heard about - I tightened it reasonably hard using my fingers, but I dont understand what could go wrong here. As long as the CPU is seated correctly (as I assured) there should be no problem with tightening the pump mounts right?

Thanks for the reply though!

Tried clearing the CMOS memory by shorting the CLRTC pins on the motherboard. No change.

Tried adding the 4pin power (in addition to the 8pin which was already connected) since the ASUS troubleshooting guide suggested it. No change.

I have tested both with my 1070 and my 970 in both my old and my new PC. The new PC behaviour does not change with either of them. I have tried both the top and the middle PCIe slots, no change there either. I have firmly ruled out the GPU as they both work fine in my older PC.
