[SOLVED] Dreaded red CPU LED

My motherboard CPU status LED is red at power up and no POST happens. The motherboard is an ASUS TUF SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0.

I was hoping you kind folks could give me suggestions as to what might cause this. I realize there are many variables but I just want your suggestions to common causes.

first check the your 4-pin/8pin power cable to the motherboard. sometimes they'll come loose
