I use a couple of these Orico 7688C3 enclosures for my backup drives. I think the vertical stand option helps dissipate heat.

I prefer the vertical type. I finally bought this one: GODO 3.5 inch External Hard Drive Enclosure for 2.5 3.5 SATA HDD

I wanted to make use of an identical 1TB HD I have. Since 1TB alone is not enough.
