I've hit a snag while trying to clone an old Windows 2000 PC's 40GB IDE drive to a 'new' 80GB IDE drive.
I'm using Clonezilla from a live USB for this task. The new drive, connected via a USB-to-IDE adapter, seems to clone successfully, and the file structure checks out okay. But, I'm stuck with a 'drive read error' when I try booting from this new drive, while the old drive still boots perfectly fine. I've already run a chkdsk on the new drive, and it didn't report any problems. The new drive is set as master, though I'm not sure if that's relevant given it's connected through the USB adapter.
Any insights into what could be wrong?
