I have a floppy-drive BXX10700 from Compaq ( initially to connect to an Armada from compaq.
I would like to connect it to an other laptop but I don't have the correct drivers for it. Can anyone help me?

Plug it in and see if XP can run round the Internet looking for a driver - it shouldn't be too difficult for it to find one unless Compaq branded the hardware in some way.

So if it doesn't work like that and given the results of Hang-the-9's research, how will it work? Is it a USB device? Does it show in Device Manager under the Power tab of the relevant USB port's Properties when plugged in. It may be that it's tagged only to work in a Compaq machine. If you still have that Armada, is it not possible to transfer files from floppy disks to a memory stick for use in your current laptop?

Saga, I have seen these old floppy drives and external connectors they use, it's not USB. They come with a case and cable that connects the floppy to the parallel port. Old stuff, last laptop I used this with was an old Compaq N series, about 10 years ago.

Actually, I believe they use a SCSI interface and not parallel and have a PCMCIA SCSI controller card. I have one as well.
