I got a brand new error just now. I was just surfing the internet in chrome watching a Youtube video that was embedded in a website. suddenly I got the blue screen of Death and The Audio from the video just kept repeating. one windows 10 finished collecting data 100% my laptop automatically turned off. with other BSOD errors I end up having to hold the power button to make the computer turn off. I would really like to know what happens to the information Microsoft collects during a windows 10 BSOD I thought they used the data to fix the issues but I've had many BSOD for the same error ever since updating and they (Microsoft) haven't done anything to fix it.

Does Windows 10 keep a record somewhere of all the error messages / BSOD ? if so where can I find it thanks.

does anyone know what this error means and how to fix it.

could be a RAM error, try taking one stick out for a while see if it persists, try the other one, then change slots etc.

Over the Years I've upgraded my PC quite a few times and RAM has been a problem several times. I think I had to replace one stick of DDR2 RAM in my Laptop before. I did use either my Laptop or a memeory tool within windows 10 to scan my ram and it didn't give me any error messages. in previous times when I had bad ram my PC would have BSOD much more often. just running a ram checker would cause it to enter BSOD.

windows will store the memory dumps from bugchecks (BSOD) in c:\windows\minidump folder by default.
kernel and full memory dumps are in the FILE c:\windows\memory.dmp.
the location and file names are user changeable but these are the common default locations.
They are binary files owned by the OS, you if you want to read them you need to move them to a new location or open them in read mode only. You can also use automated tools to read them. IE bluescreenview.exe or whocrashed.exe, otherwise you have to get someone with a windows debugger take a look at the files.

intel discontinued support for this card back in 2013, the last available drivers were for windows 7.

I would expect that you might get around problems by going into windows control panel and turn off the power management features for this wireless card. (set it not to sleep)
I think a better option would be to replace it with a better intel card. maybe look here:

in my laptop, all I did was open 1 screw in the bottom and it exposed the wireless card, I put the new card in, and attached the two wires that were used for the antennas. Took less than 5 minutes and ran fine on windows 10. Intel has very good drivers and provides driver updates for a pretty long time. total cost for the upgrade was $24, looks like they charge $28 USA now.

I just turned my laptop over and opened up the location of 4965 and it has 3 wires connected to it. the ones at the links seem to only have 2. I guess before I make a purchase I need to remove the card so I can see what type of card slot this laptop has. I see the connector comes in two versions ones which is divided into two and another which is divided into 3

I looked again and my wifi adapter is divided into 2.
but as for wires there are 3

I think my adapter is skinnier then the newer ones. mine looks longer and thinner.

- i think you would have at least one antenna for each wireless frequency.
2.4 Ghz wireless ethernet, 5.0 GHz wireless ethernet and 2.4 Ghz wireless bluetooth (but in different bands 1 MHz each)


I may have selected the wrong model when I looked it up. a card made by intel that is that new should have updated drivers that intel should provide.

also, intel will sell its chips to other vendors who can continue to use them and sell products for years after the product is discontinued by intel. In these cases you would have to get a driver update from the new vendor of the device and they don't tend to actually ever do a update.

It looks as if the New Card will fit into my laptop slot. the Widths are the same and the Length of the new one is less then the 2" the current one is. One thing I am unsure about is the wires. my current card has 3 and the new one only has two. there will be one wire without a place to put it.

I had a old asus 17 inch notebook, I just looked up the old card, found what slot (board form factor) it fit into and found the newest intel card that would fit that slot. I wanted stable drivers so I picked a card that was released for about 6 months before I upgraded. The card I selected also supported miracast and bluetooth 4 and the 5GHz band that my none of my neighbors were using. I also picked up a new archer c9 and get very good connection rates/ transfer rates.

the 2.4 GHz band does not work well when all your neighbors have routers (about 20 that I can see, all colliding on the same channels. Mostly channel 6 and 11. Data rates were very slow and some people just got higher power routers to drown out the other router signals. No one was on the 5 Mhz band.

There are a few things to consider when choosing your new Wi-Fi card. The first thing you should find out is if your laptop manufacturer uses a whitelist in the BIOS of your laptop. If your laptop's BIOS uses a whitelist, it's possible that the Wi-Fi card you want to use may not be supported. It's not something most manufacturers advertise, so you may need to spend a little time searching the Internet to find out. If you can't find a definitive answer, it's up to you to decide if you want to move forward and try it anyway.

The next thing to consider is the size of the Wi-Fi card. Locate the old Wi-Fi card in your laptop and check the size. Most new cards are half-height cards, but some older laptops use full-height cards. If your laptop isn't compatible with the newer half-height cards, you can try using a bracket adapter to make it fit.
