Drivers and Software

Firstly, I didn't know what category to put this under so that's why it is just under 'Windows 10'.

Okay, so Drivers, I've heard of them. But I have no clue what they do, what they're for, how to access them, how to download them or how to use them.
I do not know what programs/software etc. I need them for.

Please give me a hand for a first-time PC builder.

Drivers are software that tells Windows how to interact with a certain component in your system. They also allow your system to use the component to it's full potential.

Windows comes with a bunch of basic drivers that will get your PC up and running. For instance, Windows already has a driver for your Mouse and CPU. Windows will also automatically try to find the best driver for your hardware, if you are connected to the internet.

Most of the time, the only Additional Drivers you need to download are ones for your GPU.

Other 'drivers' you might need would be for a special mouse or keyboard. Those would come with that particular device.
