Question Drivers for Seagate HDD ?

I specified Bootable because I don't like to do low-level stuff inside Windows if I can avoid it, so have never actually tried the Windows version. Who knows, that one may work fine too.

If you only have a DOS computer that can't boot from USB, then the legacy CD or floppy disk versions there should probably be new enough to understand 1 terabyte drives, which came out back in 2007.

PATA pretty much means the same as IDE: an older mode for accessing the drive

We'd be happy to look it up if you could tell us what motherboard you have. It would probably be much faster if we were there, as in some ways this can be more difficult and so takes longer than even tech support on the phone.

Of course instead of paying someone for tech support it's likely cheaper and more certain to solve your problem with fewer headaches to just buy a new drive. Sometimes they just die, but at least they are pretty cheap now.

Well, OP is trying to salvage the HDD by zero-fill but Bootable SeaTools couldn't see it, so was just trying to see if their board had any compatibility modes to assist that as those use different drivers. But B450M-H does not have any. And the Windows version would just use the same drivers that Windows itself cannot initialize the disk with.

Selectable IDE and PATA compatibility modes are for SATA controllers and don't have anything to do with PATA cables. The BIOS for an IDE controller wouldn't have such settings as that would not be logical--what other mode could it run in?

I think we've expended enough time here trying to salvage a $36 drive, don't you? I mean even if it got fixed in another system, could you really trust it again?
