Dropped my desktop, motherboard performance inconsistent and probably broken

My dad dropped my desktop (while off) a week ago and the computer had no output.

The monitor was checked and is working properly, the cable was also checked. I found out the GPU works on another PC, so GPU is fine. I reconnected a couple of cables and the RAM sticks and the PC didn't work. When I removed the GPU the PC worked (sometimes). It will not work with the GPU in. I am wondering what can be the cause to my computer not working while the GPU is in and why it won't work some times while others it does work. It's very inconsistent behavior.

I will buy a new motherboard but does anyone thing it might be something else apart from the motherboard that's causing the problem?

what motherboard is it? If there is another Pci-E slot you can try the GPU in that slot. I would also pull the cpu cooler, re seat the cpu then clean and reapply new thermal paste.

Also if you have platter drives i would run some test on them to make sure they are alright. Each manufacture has their own testing tool for their drives

The weight of the heatsink fan can cause the CPU socket to break or get damaged.

Thanks for the suggestions. I don't have a CPU cooler (it's my brother's PC).
My motherboard is the following:
Gigabyte Z97P-D3 Intel LGA1150 Z97 ATX Motherboard (4x DDR3, 4x USB3.0, 10x USB2.0, GBE, LAN, HDMI)
So I can reconnect the GPU in the PCI 4.0 slot but is there a point to that because I need to connect to the x16 anyway.

I will try to reconnect the CPU tomorrow, maybe it's what's causing the issue. I'll update the thread tomorrow.

I don't have a headsink, only the stock fan, but I will try to reconnect the CPU to see if that's what's causing the issue.
