Is it possible to run nForce2 Ultra400 (ABIT NF7 v2.0) at dual channel mode with 3 loaded DIMMs?

It's supposed to be able to run dual channel with three DIMMs using nForce2. I think it's the only nForce chipset that CAN do it.

You mean, it's best to have 512 MBx1 in DIMM1 and 256 MBx2 in DIMM2&3? (DIMM position: 1-(gap)-2-3

Of course it is! Rather than splitting the data and sending it to two channels simultaniously, the nForce2 leaves the chunk in one piece and sends it to whichever channel is available first. Kind of like a sprinkler head...a very smart sprinkler head!

Imagine it like a RAID array: You're loading two files to a RAID array at the same time, RAID0 splits each file into, say, 64k parts and split those parts between the drives, while nVidia's nForce2 method would send one file to one drive and the other file to the other drive without splitting the files into pieces.
