Dual channel or triple channel... on a dual channel board

Hi,

I have a Dell Vostro 420 with the standard motherboard

I recently ordered 12GB RAM from Ebuyer (3x4GB) and one of the chips was faulty, so I ordered a replacement

I'm now wondering if I should actually replace the faulty RAM, or get a refund? ie will I notice much performance increase if I run with 4x4GB sticks (it's DDR3 1333mhz) or just stick with 3x4GB?

as far as i know, if its dual, then it cant do triple channel. if you have triple then you should have 6 slots not 4

Thanks, I have no idea what it is really... I have 4 slots, but only 3 RAM sticks in there

You want to run 2 or 4 sticks, not 3.
