Hello everyone. I have M5A97 (not r2.0) and i have strange RAM issues. I have also Phenom II X6 1055 CPU.
My issue is, when i add two RAMs in different colors, it's Single Channel. However, when i add third RAM, it becomes Dual Channel which is weird.
Also, i've recently bought G-Skill RipjawX 2x8 dual kit (1600mhz) and my second and fourth ram sockets (which are in same colors) may have an issue or something else. Because sometimes my motherboard recognizes just 1 ram. Since i have this strange issue, i removed one of the RipjawXs and moved it to third socket. It became Single channel 16gb (still 2x8 though) but my motherboard always saw it as 16 gb and never had an issue. I added third RAM which is Kingston 4gb HyperX, and my motherboard did not recognize it in Second slot, after restarting the system, it shows total 20gb RAM works in Dual Channel mode. I don't know what is the exact issue. Is it a CPU compatibiliy issue or fault of memory slot ? I've never had dual channel or memory recognizing issues with 2x4 (8gb) Kingston HyperX RAMs, but since i've installed 2x8, i'm having this strange issue.

Solution

Yes I read it but you have to try things in steps. After ensureing your RAM kits are banked together you need to remove the one your having issue with. Try blowing out the slot with compressed air next. If that doesn't help you may have to increase voltage just the smallest amount to the RAM. If this doens't work than you may have a bad slot or a mismatched kit.
