dual core i7 vs a quad core i7

Clock rate doesn't really matters when it's about the same speed, what matters most is CORES... More Cores Better Performance... Which would you get, Intel Core 2 Duo and Intel Core 2 Quad because they are kind of same clock rate...

However, in terms of battery life and price, dual-core will take the lead. Normally, MQ, HQ, are referring to the quad-core's and U and M is representing the dual core version. Normally, Quad Core i7 will have a starting price of 600$ as they are normally paired with dedicated class graphic processors.

What Dual Core i7 you talking about? All(100%) i7 has 4Cores+ as well as with HyperThreading...

No they don't... Check out the 4500u or 4510u

It depend's on your preferences, if you would like something essential and good for daily use and moderate gaming purpose it should do fine, but if you wan't some futureproofing ( notice the some ) and you wan't some more processing power for video editing and such, waiting for the quad-core version or buying 4th generation quad-core's should be your best choice.
