Does anyone know what Dual DDR 400 is and what it is good for? I'm buying a new computer that i'm going to overclock and whanted to know if i should choose the one whitout (ABIT IS7) or the one whit (ABIT IC7-G). So my quastion is :

what is Dual DDR 400, what's it good for?

Thanx

Dear Clueless:

Both support Dual Channel operation and offer similar performance. Dual Channel operation provides a 128-bit memory pathway using two 64-bit DIMMs in parallel. This doubles the memory bandwidth, which is a requirement for optimal performance with P4 processors.

The P4 CPU has a 64-bit Quad Data Rate bus, transfering data 4 times per clock cycle. They refer to a 200MHz bus clock for this CPU as an "800MHz" bus. DDR400 also operates at 200MHz, using Double Data Rate SDRAM, which transfers data two times per clock cycle.

Because of that last explanation, DDR400 has HALF the bandwidth of Intel's "800" bus. Dual Channel operation doubles the bandwidth as explained in the first paragraph.

So both boards do the same thing, I'd get the IS7 because it's cheaper.
