Dual Display assistance

So i have an Asus VG245H 75hz monitor and i just recently realized i only had it running at 60hz
i went into nvidia control panel and set it up to the 75hz maximum only to have it shut off my secondary display. my secondary display is just a small 16 inch tv. if i turn my secondary dispay back on, it resets my primary monitor (The aformentioned Asus) back down to 60hz

why is this happening and how can i fix it?

Ryzen 3 1300x
MSI Tomahawk b350
EVGA Nvidia Geforce GTX 1060 SC 6Gb
16 GB DDR4 (2x8)

so if i upgrade my secondary to a monitor with 75hz or greater, this will remove my problem?

i also have a spare 760 lying around. would i be able to use that to power my secondary monitor until i can upgrade or will that just cause more problems?

How have you set up your 2nd monitor? Through nvidia surround or just windows extended display? I have my main monitor being a 21:9 2560x1080 @75hz and a tv running at 30hz just for movies etc and it works fine.

Poked around in Surround. Only gave me the option to set the refresh to 60hz max. Will probably look into getting a secondary monitor of the same caliber as someone else suggested.

Don't use surround unless you are trying to create an "ultra wide" experience. Press the window key+P and select extend.
