Hey, I'm gonna buy the NH-U14S from Noctua shortly when I get the money. My question is, when I go for dual fans for this cpu cooler.. do I go for NF-A14 PWM or NF-A15 PWM?

Thanks in advance.
Motherboard: Asus P9X79

Solution
I'm running a U14S with a modified configuration. On the front is a NF-A14 PWM chromax.black.swap fan and on the back in the pull location is an NF-A14 PWM iPPC industrial 2000rpm chromax.black.swap.

Technically you usually want to put a pull fan on the back that is as good or better than the front fan, so that the front fan doesn't have to struggle against the additional resistance of another fan, so in this case you could put an NF-A14 PWM back there if you want, or an NF-A15.

I'll tell you now that if you want to put anything other than an NF-A15 you will need to contact Noctua for fan clips for the NF-A14 or whatever fan you decide on because the retainers for the wider NF-A15 will not work correctly with the NF-A14 on that...

I've tried it, it doesn't fit. Noctua sent me clips for free for the NF-A14 after providing them with retail purchase documentation for the cooler and additional fan.

If you go with an NF-A15, the cooler SHOULD come with additional clips to add a second one so you wouldn't need to do that.

I personally have tried with dual A15's, dual A14's (normal ones, not the 2000rpm model) and my current configuration as I outlined. I think the "tone" of the NF-A14's is less annoying than with the A15's, as it has a weird harmonic that bothered me but either way will work fine.

With my configuration I get a max core temperature of about 70°C running Prime95 version 26.6 Small FFT or Realbench, and that's with the industrial fan's max speed tuned down to about 1800rpm in the BIOS profile, on my 6700k@4.6Ghz. If I tuned that fan so that it's maximum speed was full on, I'd probably get an even lower temp but it's good where it's at and at 2000rpm it's very annoying. At 1800rpm it's not bad at all.

Thanks for quick answers.
So If I understand this correctly DarkBreeze, if I go with the NF-A15 PWM, I have everything I need to install it on the NH-U14S? Don't need to buy anything else?
And with the NF-A14 PWM I need to buy extra fan clips?
So in short I should probably go with the NF-A15 sinse I dont have that much money to buy additional stuff.

Also, anybody know what fan does NH-U14S come with?
I'm planning for a light OC on my old I7-3820. From 4.1 to 4.4 ghz.

For sure. And just for the record, I get about a 7°C better maximum thermal reading WITH the configuration I have, than I did with a single NF-A15 or A14. With two A15's on there there was about a 2-3°C difference.
i know that this thread is for long time ago but im running 1950x threadripper(as it says on my profile name) and im having cooling issues with aio so i wanted to move to noctua u14s and i thought its gonna be better to have 2 NF-A14 industrialPPC-3000 PWM on it in order to get maximum cooling but now irealised they dont fit on u14s and need additional fan clips and since im in iran i cant contact noctua so what do u suggest?

The U14S does not fit the TR4 socket.

Yes, the NF-A14 industrial PPC-2000 and 3000 fans WILL fit the NH-U14S but you will need to contact Noctua, show them proof of purchase for both the cooler and the fans, and they will send you a different set of clips to attach any NF-A14 fan to the U14S heatsink, since the clips that come with the NF-A15 are different.

There IS however a TR4 version of the U14S, but it is a totally different model than the regular U14S, so don't think you can just put a normal U14S on a threadripper system, because you can't. You must get this one for that:
