Would anybody know which motherboards at the moment provide support for dual HT processors? Also, which ones do you consider the best?

In addition, does anybody have any information on how software supports multiple processor systems? Apparently Win XP pro has multiprocessor support but how about other software? Especially 3D-games that require lots of computing power?

First off, for Intel branded processors, only the XEON family of supports Multi processors. The normal P4's are limited to single processor use.

As for Motherboards, the only dual XEON motherboard I know of is the Intel 7505. You could put a XEON 3.06 HT processor in this chipset. You should read the story about Opteron's and Xeon's on the front page of Tom's. Lots of good information there:

Yes, you can use Dual Xeons, but it will cost you a lot, and most games will not see a performance increase.
