Alright, so I've been buying parts for a makeshift server/workstation. Got 3 Xeons for dirtcheap, DDR3 ECC RAM, Case, etc.

Now the one thing I have been struggling with, is the motherboard. Finding a dual LGA1366 motherboard seems to be hard as hell and the prices on ebay are just ridiculous.

Now I've found this board (and relatives):
HP 583736-001 PROLIANT SE1120

I guess I want to ask, will this do it? There is not much to find about this board, not even an online PDF file. The one thread on this forum talking about it said something about mandatory HP fans needed for it to even boot?

Can somebody help me out? Thank you very much.

The Dell Precision T5500 is dual CPU with added riser card. The oldest models 0D883F can have issues running 2 CPU. My advice with Dells is always get a whole system. HP is more ATX compliant except for PSU wiring issues.
Here's a Dell Workstaion Owners Club at TPU. Some of those guys have HP also.

I think a barebones 2 CPU T5500 runs about $200. Be aware that RDIMM ECC memory is needed (not UDIMM ECC) if you want to explore the higher capacities. It's also cheaper.
You can configure something here. HP or Dell.

When you start getting into 2 CPU systems you're not in the everything fits...

If your looking at the EVGA Classified SR2 motherboard it's the only overclocking dual CPU LGA1366 motherboard ever made. Priced about double what an aftermaket LGA1366 runs. Doesn't fit in a standard ATX full tower case either. You can probably get a whole workstation for less than that.
