Hello guys
My specs ;
M.B :Gigabyte p85-d3
Cpu: i7 4770
Ram: KingSton hyperX beast 4x2 gb ddr3 2400 mhz

I want to increase my ram to 16 gb ..my question is is it safe if i bought the same rams making my pc runs in 4x4 (quad channels) and will my cpu support it ...

note: i dont want to add more rams in the future so its not problem to use the 4 slots for me ..i just ask about safety and performance
Thanks for any help

Solution
No. Your i7-4770 is a dual-channel processor. Even with 4 sticks of memory, it is running in dual channel.

You can increase your ram to 16GB by replacing the 4 sticks of memory but it will still be in dual channel.

so its safe if i buy the same sticks ...no issues will appear as blue scrreen or any other ram issues on my P85-D3 M.B ?
i understand that the 4 sticks will run in dual channels so the increase will be in the size of ram only not in the frequency ..i am right ??
i want to increase it for gaming only
