Hi all I’m currently running WinME and just upgraded to a Abit A7Va and duron 800 196megs going to 384 megs of ram. I would like to install win2k on the same partition as Win Me and migrate over as things get installed and once I’m happy with 2k can I delete the bootmenu that will be installed by 2k and delate all of WinME. Do you see any problems with this approach? Thanks for you wisdom and time 🙂

Unless you are very careful about where you install apps and such, you may run into trouble installing win2k on the same partition. As for deleting the boot menu.......lets just say I DON'T RECCOMEND YOU DO THIS. If you want to edit the boot files fine, but you need it to actually boot your OS

if you mess with the boot files and you see "NTDLR is missing" don't freak yet. Just reboot 2k with the CD and it will repair the files, but I have lost a total harddrive worth of information before from this error, BE CAREFUL
Good luck!

I hate picking fights... but it's so fun

I suggest you use a partition manager and create a second partition to install Win2K on. Then after you get everything to your liking with Win2K, use the partition manager to move the Win2K partition to primary and delete the Win98 partition. I use PartitionMagic 5.0 myself and it has saved me a lot of hair pulling.
