Duel Monitor Issue

Hello, I'm having this weird issue where I'm getting flawless frames, matching my main monitor refresh rate (144hz) when playing games strictly on that monitor.

I then plug the 2nd monitor in (60hz) and while I click the 2nd monitor and browse while the game is alt tabbed, the fps then becomes very sporadic and will be almost halved.

I have tried to enable multi display setting in Nvidia Control Panel but I didn't see it in there as it was a solution that I found over the internet and I remember for certain it was there previously and which would make sense for this issue.

If there's any potential fixes, please let me know, thanks.

Specs:
i7 6700k
GTX 1060 6gb
16gb Ram (2100mhz)
Gigabyte z170 k3 Gaming
ASUS VG248QE 144hz using DVI
Samsung T24D390 60hz using HDMI (tried DP)

Having a secondary monitor off any GPU will cause it to work harder or demand more resources. What you're seeing is kind of normal though you haven't exactly stated the sort of frames you're seeing. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling your GPU drivers? Make sure your motherboard BIOS is up to date.

You forgot to mention the make and model of your PSU.

I've used two monitor setups for years with no issues with 60hz monitors, I've used this PC setup with 2 60hz monitors on and off since I got it (1 year ago) I should of put that I've only experienced this with 144hz after upgrading not long ago.

I stated that I get flawless 144 fps when I play the game with only one monitor, but then I plug the 2nd one in, click on the 2nd monitor and the frames then drop to 60-144 fps.

Games I've experienced it on:

Football Manager 2018
Subnautica
Escape From Tarkov

Yes, I've uninstalled Geforce Experience & installed it again. I recently went through my drivers to see them all up to date

I have a Corsair CX600 PSU
