I have an ASUS x550ca laptop and recently have been unable to play DVD's on it as i like to do. various issues have occurred with it. the drive doesnt always show under file explorer - this pc. same thing under device manager, its not there, even the dvd/cd drive option which the drive should be listed under isnt there. even if they are it still wont work. and whether or not i can even open the drive door is a lottery, sometimes it opens sometimes it doesnt. and obviously dvd's arent playing, where as before it would automatically play a dvd, now it isnt and when i start up the player manually (ASUSDVD) it just says there is no disk in the drive, i have tried some fixes, like going to device manager, dvd/cd drive (if it s there) right click on the drive i want if its there, uninstall and restart, but that isnt working like it has done before. HELP!!, its sad but im starting to feel lost without the drive working lol

The only Asus product I personally like are their graphics cards and their motherboards. And yes, the problem with your drive is that it's broken.
I'm not really sure what your asking but I assume with the title you've given this post that your asking if your cd/dvd drive is faulty. I would say without a doubt that your dvd/cd drive is dead and/or almost dead.

just asking if anyone knows what might be wrong :)

yeah, it certainly seems that way, ive only had this thing about 18 months, never buying asus again, my asus tablet didnt last long either
