Hey everyone!

I have an annoying problem. I sold my laptop but the DVD drive was not working after I reinstalled Windows 7. Also, one of the hard disks was not assigned a name.

In the device manager it shows up as Volume0, normally the nameof the DVD drive displays.

I believeI also deleted part of the BIOS. It doesn't show up there either. I can open the drive, and it tries to read discs.

The problem is hard to define. Should I reinstall the BIOS? Also found that it might help to reinstall the .NET framework.

This happened before. But then Windows would suddenlyrecognize the DVD drive and install the correct drivers, then it would suddenly switch back and call the drive 'Volume0'.

Does anyone now a fix for this? The guy I sold the laptop to has no problem with it, as long as I fix the DVD drive,so he'll drop it off tomorrow. I hope it's not broken but that seems unlikely sincethe problem began when I reinstalled W7 and the computerdid notcrecognize the HDD and DVD drive.

Please help!!!

Wout

Reset your CMOS and then install the latest BIOS updates if you think you screwed something up in it. Check device manager for any problems showing with your SATA drivers and reinstall if need be. Run chkdsk /f afterward to check your HDD.
