I have a tsstcorp sh-216bb DVD drive that I took out of my old Dell Vostro 270s and put into my new home-built rig.
It seemed to work fine as it recognizes the drive, but when I went to rip a DVD, it wouldn't even recognize/acknowledge the disk.
I tried to find an updated driver, but I cant find anything online outside of Dell and I have no idea if their driver would even work in my new rig and i don't want to risk creating problems with incompatible drivers.
Does anyone know where i might find a driver for this thing or if it would work in Linux? I've played around with making Linux USBs before, but I'd have to buy one and I'd rather not spend any money if i can help it
Edit: it reads CDs just fine, and some DVDs but not others
