dvd rom and cd rw both not working

the dvd rom and cdrw are reconised by the computer and can both be opend from
te computer so iknow there are there but no matter what type of cd i put in
it keeps saying theres no cd in the drive .. i have checked internal
connections and on the properties it isnt showing any error ne help will be
appricieted
