Hello,
I have too many shows on my Time-Warner DVR box. Want to pull them onto an external hard drive and watch later on TV (not computer). How to do this? Are there portals on back of DVR to plug into to do stuff?
If no other way, I CAN watch on my MAC.

thanks Jack
The instructions require a Windows 7 computer .

I have a Mac, system 10.5.8

Can I just do the same thing on a MAC?

Will the Video capture card hold 40 hours of stuff?

Many capture cards work fine on MAC and PC.

This said, you will have some quality loss(depends on many factors) as the DVR(or at least newer ones) just save the digital signal with no lossy conversion(it was lossy converted once only before being sent to the box).

With a capture card you get

Digital from the TV company
Analog(converted) at the TV out of the box.
Digital to Analog conversion(the extra layer of conversion) in software or hardware depending on the card. I prefer hardware my self.

With the TV alone you just had

Digital
Analog conversion in the box OR straight digital for any modern HDMI TV.

That said, sure it can be done.

EDIT.

saw a new post.

The card does not hold the video, your hard drive is the only limiting factor(also the higher you set the quality, the more space it will take).
