I want to buy the best Nvidia graphics card with 256MB RAM for a PCI slot (not PCI-e).
Kindly suggest me a good one which can play Directx9.0c games.
If anything can hinder me in future, please tell me about that also.
I have heard of Geforce FX 5200.
Pl help

I started two threads b'coz of the 2 categories, i am sorry for that.
Will i be able to play all directx9 games (new ones like nfsmw & gta & doom3) on Geforce FX 5200 Pci Card??

Dude, a 5200 blows goats when its AGP! In a PCI version it is going to be alot more sucky - if that's posssible.

When you say "Can I play.......?" you are surely joking, yes? If by "play" you mean "watch a tear jerking slideshow" then yes.

If however, you mean "play at reasonable resolution at frame rates over 30FPS" then the answer is no. Not ever. Oh, and 30 FPS really sucks. 60 is acceptable. 100+ is better.

Modern games just can't be played on a plain-old-style PCI card.

You are asking a very old dog, not just to learn new tricks, but to strap on a rocket pack. Sorry: your dog aint up to it. You need a new PC.

You're not gonna get much performance in GTA:SA or NFS:MW with that system, I'm afraid. Also, why can't you get an AGP card?

5200 is probably the only card there is for nVid. Just get the ATi 9250 that I said in the other thread. Take it from me, it can play GTA:SA. I duno about the 5200, although the one in my Apple can play Q3 quite happily.

Not totally true. If he just wants to play GTA:SA (I doubt NFS will work, though) than that system is fine, with more RAM.

If you can at least get AGP, get a 6800GS, it'll play most anything at reasonable rates. If that's too expensive, go for the 6600GT AGP version.

Well if you have any hope of playing anything newer than '03 or '04 reliably, you'll want to upgrade...

That's amazing, I don't think I've seen a motherboard since 1998 that HASN'T had AGP.

Do you know who made your mobo and the model number? or at least who made it and the chipset?

 whoa a pci vga??
Good luck playing any games after 1999.
Too slow for gaming, youll have lots of lags and freezzes.
For gaming you might want to invest in a future saft pc system to last you years to come.
Other than that
-Good Luck-

Ahhh!! Mini ATX. yeah, well That's a board aimed at Home Theatre PC's and SFF. That explains a lot.

Well if you're on a TIGHT budget try and find a used regular ATX board on ebay that would fit all your components with an AGP slot, shouldn't be hard to find, and get the 6800 GS I suggested.

or if you have the money, spend it and upgrade your entire system.

I aim to play games @ 1024*768 to 1280*1024 resolution.
i wanna know that on it can i get 60+fps @ 1024*768.
i will buy a new Pc in near future but 4 now i want to buy a Pci g card.
whats the optimum refresh rate?
can u provide me the table of fps @ diff. resolutions & with diff. refresh rates?
whats the value of bandwidth offered by Pci slot?
Pl help, thanks in advance.

PCI has a bandwith of 133m/s which is shard with all devices on the pci bus and i think that includes onboard sound. AGP 2x has a bandwidth of around 500m/s

I don't even think I get 30+fps with my R9200 AGP in San Andreas. There's no way you'll be able to play anything other than Lemmings at 100fps+ at 1280.

There comes a time in every person's life when you just have to buy a new PC, and I think this is your time.
