Can you tell me symptoms of a dying hard-disk ?

You can easily search that up on Google.

Symptoms could be very VERY slow write speeds compared to usual, to noises from the HDD. It could also be sectors of the HDD failing, at that point you'll want to save and backup as much of the HDD as you can.
There's a few programs out there which check HDD health. You can try HDTUNE.
