The tl;Dr of it is I helped with a low end build consisting of a 2.6ghz ivy Bridge xeon(4 cores) and a gtx 960 a while back last year. That cpu ain't cutting it for modern games and light media creation. I know a new ryzen 2000 series or i5 8400+ would be better but college student money man.

Now the two xeon in the title are basically an sb and ib i7 respectively, and go for ~$65 or ~90 at the recycle center near us. I know in gaming that ivy Bridge is 5 percent better than sb under the best conditions and a wash under others, but with photos hop and I think some lite video exporting /converting thrown in would the ib chip be worth it or.just grab tur SB chip?

Thanks,!

I forget the mobo model but I know i chose this one cause it was a cheap business surplus board that could support the two cpus I'm asking about.

Budget is $110 for the cpu, any not spent will be put towards an rx580 or 480.

They do overwatch, doom, grav, ff14, Wow, the Sims, borderlands, skyrim, ff15 and others I can't remember the names of

8GB ram right now, gtx 960 right now for other components. Oh. And a 2tb hdd.
