i am a fan of humble bundle ever since. sure, it's EA, they do suck often. But they do have some games that i enjoy (they bought some good companies, not really EA)
and it's charity, it's cheap, good if you don't have them yet.
or send them as gifts
and origin has improved through the years, they are still far from steam, but they are ok

Ive been wanting to buy Mass effect 1 and 2 on steam for over 2 years now, and still cant get them due to the whole "buy bioware points if you want dlcs".
No thx, I dont want you to have any of my personal data, my paypal or credit card information, I just want a game of the year edition where I can buy all at once.
And no more of this Origin BS (dont have even one game on Origin).

I would have sent my Origin duplicates as gifts, but they decided to use 2 codes for all 8 games offered in Origin; which is a shame.

Dude, so you think EA making zero money will lead to better games down the road. This hate of corporations has just gotten absurd. They are trying to make money, no more no less than you are or anyone else.

.

It's not a hate of corporations. It's a hate of EA, on account of them sucking and all.

(Yes, I will be forever bitter about SimCity.)

Have you ever tried to contact their customer support?

The only games I play on Origin are the ones that aren't available otherwise. The only game I bought on Origin is Need for Speed Most Wanted, but only because it was $7. All my other games on Origin I got through both EA bundles on Humble Bundle and the "on the House" free games EA gives sometimes.

As someone who plays a lot on the go (which implies not having an internet connection available) Origin is just no good. I was NEVER able to make the offline mode work on Origin without going online first to be able to put it in offline mode, which defeats the purpose of an offline mode. My first tought was to put it in offline mode once and then forget about it, but no, everytime I start my laptop or Windows tablet, Origin refuses to start if I'm not connected to the net. Tried it on various devices. Same thing everytime. An offline mode that needs to be online prior to be activated. Wow. That's useful!

Don't have ANY problem with Steam offline mode. No connection? No problem. Steam can start in offline mode.

Oh, and Origin don't have any easy way to backup your games. And get this, because I already had Peggle on Origin, and the latest humble bundle also had it, now I have TWO copies of the game in my Origin game list. I have to tell Origin to hide one copy so I only see one. Seriously, EA?

But the worst thing is the offline mode that requires to be online to be activated. So I have Origin only on my desktop PC. Uninstalled it from both my laptop and Win8 tablet, as it was useless on those.

Game backup on Origin is one of the worst non-features. Battlefield 3 is around 36GB with all expansions...having to re-download the entire game to play seems a bit excessive. There really isn't a good way around this if you are doing an OS re-install or image. Needs to have functionality like Steam to backup/restore and then update games previously downloaded. I've attempted to backup the directory files, purge, and then 'restore' using the backup through Origin, but it simply downloads the game again.
