Earphone recognized as external microphone by my phone

Hi,
When I plug my earphones in my phone, I can hear like it's supposed to but my phone's microphone stops working.
I tried using the voice recorder app and it said "Recording with external microphone" . But my earphones don't have any mic integrated (standard Samsung earphones) .

Even stranger is that it worked perfectly until it didn't, for a completely unknown reason, as I didn't do anything in particular that could've caused this.

I'd like to use my earphones as sound output and my phone's microphone as sound input again but how ?

I saw this thread when looking for people with the same problem. However there's no Device Manager as I'm using a phone.
Anyway, a few days later the left earphone stopped working so I assume it's just broken in a weird way.
