Earphones don't play all the sound

Hi, I was using my earphones the other day, and it would not play the bass part of the sound unless i messed with the jack until I got it to the perfect point, in which it would easily get lost again. I have to mess with the small part of wire outside of the jack, in which I believe there to maybe be a frayed wire or something. I'm not sure what to do

I might try to get the plastic putty, Sugru, and put it on the area and fix it into that position, but I'm not sure if that'd work.

probably a sochet or jack that is broken. if it are expensive earphones you can replace them but if you are talking about something like Apple earpods then i wouldnt bother. also check for any dust in the socket
