I want to make it possible for a laptop with 802.11g wireless access to use my desktop computer's internet connection. My desktop computer is running Vista and has internet access by way of a DSL modem plugged into the desktop's ethernet NIC.
A while ago, I tried to add a router (with the DSL modem plugged into the router), but I ran into a problem. For the moment, I would like to sidestep that problem.
So... I have two questions:
1. Is it possible to add a USB wireless access point to my desktop computer to create a network of two computers, in order to allow the laptop to use my internet connection?
2. If point 1 isn't possible (or if it will cause more headaches than it will cure), can I get a cheap USB router to create a network separate from the one defined by my existing NIC, and share my internet connection that way?
